Starting with Halloween, moving onto Thanksgiving, keeping up with Christmas, and grand finale with New Year – holiday season is upon us. There will be plenty of pumpkin spice, cinnamon, hot chocolate, turkey, cranberries, cookies and milk, but also plenty of fog, snow, and wind.
With your skin not being used to harsh weather because of the nice fall that we’ve had so far, it might be tricky to maintain your beauty standards.
Luckily, there are a few useful tips and tricks you can use to stay fresh and happy with your looks in the upcoming season.
Weight gain trap
This is a wonderful time to be at home and bond with your family, or go out and spend some quality time with your friends. Sadly, all those delicious Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners, cookies, desserts, and hot chocolate can really leave you with a couple of pounds more than you would like to have. To avoid putting on too much weight, drink a cup of green tea with lemon in the morning, a glass of water before every meal, and go for a walk every evening. It might not be as effective as seating in the gym, but it will help you keep your weight under control.
Morning and evening routine
You would not believe just how important it is to stick to certain routines throughout the day – it helps you stay healthy and focused. Try getting up at the same time every morning so your body will get used to the rhythm and you won’t have troubles with dark circles and bags under your eyes. On the other hand, clean your face with gentle cleanser every evening and apply moisturizer. Chilly air can really dry out your skin, so putting on a hydrating mask at least once a week will result in glowing complexion and healthy skin all winter long.
Sometimes you feel like the bones in your body are freezing and all you can think about is a warm bath and soft blanket on your bed. Can you imagine how your skin and hair are feeling? It is easy to forget about them, but you shouldn’t do so; skin and hair are very delicate and they suffer as much as you do because of the cold weather. Always have a nice pair of gloves, soft wool hat, and a long scarf at hand. Peters of Kensington have an amazing collection of scarves and gloves for everyone’s taste; your hands and hair will be grateful you covered them up with something nice and warm.
Soft, healthy lips
Parched lips not only hurt, but look bad at the same time. If you do not like wearing lip balm at all times, you can practice the following routine: mix some olive oil with sugar and gently exfoliate your lips. You can also use an extremely soft toothbrush and with circular motions remove the layer of dead skin. Applying olive oil and honey will soften your lips even more and protect them from wind next time you step outside.
With all the parties and family dinners approaching, you want to look best, but with all the obligations it might be difficult to get enough sleep and follow the same regime you are used to following.
This is why it’s important to steer clear of stress, spend as much time with your family and friends, and eat healthy.
Remember, if you are truly happy and healthy, you will look beautiful.
