FACE IT… FAD DIETS DON’T WORK… LIFESTYLE CHANGES DO – Most of us look outside ourselves for that quick fix to shed 10 or 20 pounds with a fad diet. When this goal is reached we receive raving compliments from a partner, a family member or a good friend and we give ourselves a slap on the back for a job well done. We’ve worked so hard and we truly believe that this time the weight is off forever. But unfortunately as time moves on so do old habits and behaviors. No sooner than later that day comes in the not so distant future when we look in the mirror, try on those new jeans we rewarded ourselves with and the zipper barely budges! Yes, we’ve gained it all back with a bit more and we don’t’ understand how or why! Does this scenario sound familiar?
Often when our spirit goes undernourished perhaps from unfulfilling relationship, a lack luster career or an issue with self-esteem, we tend to cover up our heart’s desire by believing that food is our only satisfying friend. Usually this is the case of deeper issues underlying this excess weight and unfortunately we shy away, throw the dirt under the rug expecting that this emotional time will vanish forever. However, like the oil and water theory, when we shake the two together what happens? The oil separates and floats to the top, as so our weight when we ignore our issues the scale moves and most likely in the wrong direction!

When certain members get on the scale they look up at me with disappointment and say…”but I did everything right this week!”
Food absolutely affects our bodies, our thoughts and our feelings. One person’s food is another person’s poison. Ask yourself this question -” What do I want, what do I really, really want? Then look beyond that late night snack and FACE IT! Once you commit the answer is very close by!
